Stop Caring & Start Creating

International Creator’s day was on Friday, April 23! Creativity is a part of my life. It is what empowers me and keeps me going. So I want to know what is stopping you from taking the leap and taking steps toward your dream? No seriously… I would like to know. Is it fear? You know there are a lot of people who live in fear of what others think. This is especially true in the creative world but it also applies to many situations. Whether you are a blogger, photographer, content creator, etc. Some will not even attempt to pursue their dreams because of what others will think.

You Can’t Please Everyone

When I started blogging, I will admit I was once the same way. What would my classmates think? This is why my first couple months of blogging were on a private blog and I didn’t even post about it on social media. I don’t know who needs to hear this but, who cares what others think? Why are you letting that hold you back from living your dream life? Now, of course, we should have some concern about our image, what we do and what people think of us- to some extent. Yet, this should not impede our life. Many times my blog posts will sit in my drafts because I was scared that I would receive backlash, or be judged. This is especially true for more personal posts about medical updates. Let me tell you something: there will be people who cannot and will not be pleased with anything you do. That is just the reality. I mean not everyone will be interested in your content.

I know not everyone I am close with reads my blog posts. And you know what? That is okay. I am not offended. Blogging, creating content and everything I design is done because I love it and it thrills me. It makes me happy. Whatever I want to do, I try to make it happen. You don’t need permission to create.

Things I did for me

  • Go self-hosted- I took the steps to figure out the pricing and I went for it.
  • Submit to a photography magazine
  • Created my blog and youtube channel because I had a vision. I had so much to say and share with the world, that I realized I needed an outlet to execute things.

The Fear Factor

The fear factor in blogging is big, and you will be happy to know it’s not just the people who are new to blogging. I still get a pang of fear once in a while. It crosses my mind all the time how my content will be received. Yet, I remember that I do this because I love it- Not do it to please people.

I am a very nervous person and thus I spent a lot of time just planning the blog before I went to the computer to start & had no idea what I was doing. (I was a freshman in high school.) No experience whatsoever, somehow I managed to figure it out on my own. Sure it was scary at times. Hence, why I didn’t even make my blog public at first nor did I promote it on my social media. I was scared of judgment, and what my classmates would think. You know what though, who cares? I am serious so what if people judge you for doing what makes you happy. If it makes you happy then you already won. Some of my biggest support for my blog came from my classmates, believe it or not. Heck, that is how I met my best friend – who I didn’t know existed but was in my high school. Sure, I have had times where people have judged me- heck I have criticism in my DMS about my blog.

Create for you

You know, who cares if one of my classmates (or anyone) thinks I am crazy, judges me, or doesn’t enjoy my content. All my content is done for me with the goal of hopefully maybe helping others- but that is not a requirement. When you become whole and comfortable with yourself, the worries about what others think of you become like leaves on the wind, there for a moment and gone the next. So go ahead, let go, be awesome and create anyway. You will be better for it. I believe in you and you can do anything. I know it’s hard to take that leap, but trust me you will be happier.

At Least Attempt-Despite Fear

At least try what you dream of. It’s okay if it doesn’t work out at least you tried and not everyone succeeds. It took me a long time to get followers on my platforms. Even if you never reach your goal of whatever, I completely believe the decision to execute it was worthwhile.

You will learn so much about yourself and your skills

I’ve developed great skills from my blogging journey over the years, I have learned so much and made wonderful connections with other bloggers. Plus, I am proud that I took the leap and started blogging. Starting to go for your dreams can take a lot of courage and commitment to do. Besides, think of all the experiences you get along the way. That is why you should always pursue them – no matter what. What dreams have you always wanted to pursue? If you’re pursuing your dreams now, what have you learned along the way? Start doing what makes you happy- something that makes you shine, even if it’s a hobby/side project. It will make a difference in your life. People around you will sense that. And you will see: better things will come on your path.

You could be helping someone

Putting your ideas, thoughts, and content, and words into the world-especially the internet is scary. It makes you more vulnerable to people. You also have to remember some people may be inspired by your work or if you share personal experiences- your work may help them through something similar they are going through.
