Interviews

Happiness, Joy & Sharing Christ: Isabella Kate

Welcome back to the blog! I have another interview post for you all today. It is all about the content creator and YouTuber Isabella Kate!

Tell me about yourself: Name, Age, what you do About your Youtube channel and how just the story of how you got to where you are today)

Hi there! I’m Isabella, but most people call me Izzy. I’m 15 years old, and I’m a Christian. I have wanted to become a YouTuber since I was 9 or 10. I’m a lifestyle Youtuber, and my channel is called Isabella Kate. I also have an Instagram page for my Youtube channel, where I have built a strong community with my followers and have created a page that has changed and improved me so much.

When did you start doing Youtube?

I started my Youtube channel in May of 2020, but I previously had a blog for 4 years and had experience making Youtube videos for my blog.

How did you come up with your channel name?

I wanted something simple. My blog name was According to Izzy for a while, and I wanted to completely convert my blog and channel to something more mature, so I chose to just make my channel my first and middle name.

What is your favorite video you have uploaded?

I have a few, as they all have special places in my heart. My favorites would have to be my busy high schooler day in the life video or my Christian teen girl day in the life video! I tend to be better at vlogging than sit-down videos, and I have a lot of fun editing vlogs!

Can you describe/outline your typical day?

My typical day starts around 9:30. I’m a night owl, so getting up early is not for me. I eat breakfast and make a to-do list every day. I look over it and see what I can start with.

Then, I just get ready for my day. Most days, I don’t wear makeup. I would rather not wear makeup and stay natural unless I am filming or creating a lot of content with my face in it. I start getting things done off of my to-do list, make some lunch, and watch Netflix.

The afternoons are usually spent on content, such as making reels, posting on Instagram, or going live on Instagram. As it gets later in the afternoon, I like to go on walks to exercise and decompress. It’s a great way for me to get out in nature and exercise.

Then, I just come home and shower and help my mom make dinner as I love cooking. I eat dinner with all of my family, and after dinner I work on whatever administrative work that I can, whether that is pre-writing a post, posting a reel that I pre-filmed, or planning on my content calendar. Then, I just watch some tv with my family, catch up on social media, and go to bed late! My days are pretty relaxed.

What do you do to manage your time? Any specific programs/ apps you Recommend?

I’m not the best at time management. I don’t use anything specific, besides to-do lists to keep me on track. I try to keep my normal life and base my content-creating schedule & time around that. As much as I love social media and content creation, I want to make sure that I have a balance and don’t prioritize posting on Instagram over a commitment in my personal life.

What motivates you?

I get a lot of motivation from other content creators on Instagram or Pinterest. Pinterest inspires me to be more creative, and content creators inspire me to keep going and be consistent with my page and channel.

Where do you get inspiration?

I mainly get my inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram. Pinterest has the creativity without the toxicity that Instagram can have sometimes, but Instagram has a lot of creators that I love to follow along with and get inspiration from.

How do you define success?

I think success can come in different forms. But, in my mind, if you are happy with what you are doing, and are doing the best you can, then you are succeeding.

Would you consider yourself successful?

Through my eyes, I am successful. To bigger pages or channels, they might not think so. I’m happy and doing what I love, so in my mind I am successful.

What’s the biggest factor that has helped you be successful?

One of the biggest factors would have to be remembering that everyone grows at a different pace. Hard work is what helps you succeed, and if a video or post doesn’t do as well, I just keep working harder.

What struggles did you encounter in your life and how have they helped you get to where you are now?

We all have different struggles, no matter the size. I’ve struggled some in life with friendships and having a strong community of people, but Instagram has completely changed that for me. Some of my closest friends are friends that I have met through Instagram and I am endlessly thankful for the community that my Instagram account has brought me the last few months.

Have you ever been teased or made fun of at school because of your channel?

I haven’t! Most of the people in my school have no idea about my channel, and I am so blessed to have never been bullied or teased for my channel.

What inspired you to start a youtube channel especially at a young age?

I started watching Youtube when I was 8 or 9 and loved watching Bethany Mota’s videos. And I would watch Youtube videos for hours and just wanted to be a Youtuber. I got all of my inspiration from those creators and learned so much just by watching their videos.

What is your goal/dream/vision for your channel?

I don’t have much of a vision for my channel. I’m just trusting in God for His timing in growing my channel. My goal overall is not only to bring happiness and joy into people’s lives but also to share Christ with others and inspire them to spend more time in His word and strengthen their relationship with Him.

Advice for people who want to start a youtube channel?

Work hard!! If you’re not constantly putting in the effort, then it’s not going to work. Also, be yourself!! If you’re not being yourself on your channel, it’s going to show.

Are you ever scared of putting your videos on the internet?

I am! It’s scary putting so much of yourself out there on the internet for anyone to find, but it’s worth it in the long run!

How do you combat this?

I remind myself that if people are critical of me, that’s their problem, not mine! If someone decides to judge or make fun of me off of my videos, that’s natural! Everyone is going to have haters, you just have to ignore them!

How has starting a youtube channel benefited you?

It has benefited me in countless ways. Like I said above, Youtube inspired me to create my Instagram account, and that Instagram account and the community on there really got me through some hard things in 2021. Due to the pandemic and going back to school, feeling alone was an increasing problem. The Instagram community was there to help me grow not only as a creator, but they helped me grow so much as a person and a Christian. Without that community, I’m not sure what I would have done this fall, and I cannot thank them enough.

Have you learned any new skills from youtube? If so what are they?

I’ve learned how to edit on Final Cut Pro which I love! I’ve also learned how to use a lot of different apps and programs which will be so helpful in my future as I plan to major in Communications and Digital Media in college.

What are your long-term career goals?

My long-term career goals are to continue Youtube and content creating for as long as it feels good to do so. I’m currently a freshman in high school, so I plan to do this throughout high school, and then we’ll see how I feel once I get to college and where God leads me in life. In college, I plan to major in Communications and Digital Media, and hopefully, do a lot in the social media management world.

What’s the best decision you’ve ever made?

One of the best decisions I ever made would have to be starting my Instagram page. I had just started Youtube and was inspired by Grace Ariya to create an Instagram page for my Youtube channel. I started on July 18th, 2020, and it has brought me such an amazing community and so many friends.

Someone you admire and why?

I don’t have anyone specifically, but honestly all of the lifestyle content creators\Youtubers on these platforms. Everyone puts so much hard work into their pages or channels, and I’m constantly inspired by every one of them.
